I LOVE the song, Just Like Heaven by Katie Melua. I stumbled on this song one day listening to Pandora. I've always liked the song by the Cure, but hers was so much sweeter. So I put the two up to compare.
Next, also while listening to Pandora I found Your Love by Emma Bugress. And for a long time I didn't put the two songs together. I knew I'd heard it before and I liked it a lot; but they were so different I couldn't place it. It wasn't until much later when I heard Outfields song on the radio that it clicked, there was an acoustic version on Pandora! So I searched and sure enough I found them both.
The Lyrics are the same, except Outfield likes their girls a little bit older, she likes her boys.
I like these two slower songs so much better and I'm hoping/wondering if there are any other 80's monster ballads out there that have acoustic versions done by women. If you know of any, please let me know.
Anyway, listen to them and see what you think. Compare and contrast. Don't mind the music videos, it was the 80's, enough said.

Not necessarily monster ballads, or even acoustic, but these are some pretty good covers of some 80's songs by females.

And a great cover by Frou Frou (Imogen Heap singing, definitely not acoustic, but I love it!)

And a great cover by Pomplamoose. (Yes, the singer doesn't seem to blink often enough, but I love their arrangements. Not exactly acoustic. If you like this, listen to their Lady Gaga Telephone and Beyonce's All The Single Ladies covers as well)
